Planning for the CFA exam Level 1 in June

  • Well, before all, I will put the premises:
  1. I work in Accenture
  2. I study the CFA for improve my business knowledge
  3. Sport, life, and enjoy the life become first the CFA
  4. I am training for be an Ironman finisher (2 or 3 hours of training each day)
  5. I am a Red Cross volunterr for the Mountain rescue team – I must dedicate time for this, study first aid, practice mountain rescue practices, etc…
  6. I don’t need more than 4 hours of sleep for be ok
  7. I can study everywhere (In the Bus, while I am training in the Gym, In the metro, walking), but obviously it’s better study in a library than in training, but is better study while I am training that not study
  8. I need practice a lot of questions of simulated exams to pass, this is the main problem, because I have little time to practice.
  9. My background and my studies have lack in finance matters
  10. My english is poor, I am from Spain, an european country with problems with the languages, overalls the people of my generation
  11. The last thing, I am actor of a theater company and during this time to the exam I will do some representations. I am protagonist, so I can’t fail

Once said all these… I must

  1. Try to find time for study 10 hours by day.
  2. Practice with 200 question each business day, and with 400 each weekend
  3. Study one matter each day (ethics one day, economics the next)

How can I do it…

Easy

From Monday to Friday:

  • Wake up at 5:00
  • Running in the morning (30 minutes) – Listen the Study matter that I have put in my mp3
  • Having a little shower, and take a small breakfast while I continue with the study matter
  • Go to work, it takes 1 hour and 30 minutes, and obviously, I continue with the study matter.
  • At 8:30 I begin my work at Accenture. I am team leader, so I have a lot of work, anyway, it is very easy each hour dedicate 5 or 10 minutes to answer small questions of CFA samples exams
  • At 13:00 I’m going to swim. 45 minutes only and after, as everybody I need eat something, so, more time to study, unfortunately, while I am swimming I can’t study but I can review the matters that I have studied this morning
  • I finish my work in Accenture at 17:30, well it is not true, but, well some days, after this hour I have more time for study a bit more.
  • I will stay at office until 20:30 studying as good as possible (I hope that the day be quiet)
  • As I told before, it takes to me 1h 30m go home, so more study hours.
  • At 22.00, I need more training, maybe run, maybe biking. (Study if I want…)
  • At 23.00 prepare the dinner an while, study!!! yeah, the notes will be dirtied with olive oil and other food, but I don’t care it.
  • At 0:00 I’m going to bed… Maybe rest or maybe continue with a little more effort with the study notes.

And in the weekend

  • Wake up at 8:00 and begin study until 11:00
  • Sporadic readings until 15:00
  • At 15:00 restart the study until 18:30
  • Sporadic readings until 23:00
  • And finally at 23:00 restart the study until 1:00

These study plan takes to me to add 10 hours of study each day, and if only I have 30 days to go to the exam… mmm 300 hours of study. The problem is that those 300 hours not ever will be quality hours, that is the main problem and is in which I supossed that I will need go to the december exam. But, thinking positive, for December, I will have covered a long way…

I will put here my advances…
